HELP!
I’m an amateur editorial cartoonist who’s seeking a regular gig
where I can get my work published without having to spend all my
time pestering newspaper editors instead of drawing cartoons.
When I began doing this, I assumed it would be easy to find a
publisher as long as I was willing to provide the material at no
charge. Now – a couple of years later – that point of view seems
laughably naïve.
I generally produce about one cartoon per
week, which I self-publish on this site and in on-line political
forums like
As Maine Goes.
My cartoons are also posted regularly on the community web sites
magic-citynews.com and
lamaine.com. In addition, my cartoons
have appeared in the Twin City Times (Lewiston/Auburn), the
Downeast Coastal Press (Cutler),
All Maine Matters
(Millinocket), the Coastal Journal (Brunswick), The Bridgton
News, the Franklin Journal (Farmington), the Lakes Region
Suburban Weekly, the Livermore Falls Advertiser, the
Wilbraham-Hampden Times (Wilbraham, MA), the Record Enterprise
(Plymouth, NH), the New Hampshire Business Review, and Consent of the Governed (private
subscription newsletter). I’ve also done radio interviews with
both Ray Richardson of WLOB-FM (Greater Portland) and John
McDonald of WGAN-AM (Greater Portland).
Are
you a journalist or editor who’s interested in acquiring
cartoons for your print publication? See a cartoon here that
really yanks your chain? Just want to shoot the bull?

Do you still love fiber-based newspapers despite
free on-line content from every imaginable source? Do you worry that print journalism
is becoming as homogenous as FM radio? If you
like the cartoons that you see here, why not e-mail your
favorite newspaper and let them know about it? Click on
this link for a list of Maine newspapers and their e-mail
addresses.
Needless to say, if
you like what you see on MAINECARTOONS, please share the link
with friends or post it on your own web pages.
